The steps involved in character development (at least for my creative writing exercises) are:
- Create a character outline using the random character generator
- Develop some facts about them
- Create a back story
- Give them some contradictory traits, assign them a zodiac sign
- Develop character imagery
- Describe their interactions with others
- Write something in character's voice
Character Outline:
An overbearing 47 year-old man, who comes from a poor background, lives in a city apartment and tends to tell little white lies.
Ten Truths:
- He's tall
- He's overweight
- He's divorced
- He's is fearless
- He tells jokes that are in bad taste
- He's generous
- He drinks too much
- He plays the piano
- He is nurturing
- He is uninhibited
Ten Lies:
- He exercises daily
- He loves children
- He has a pet
- He cooks
- He loves outdoor activities
- He

- He
Ten Odd/Bizarre statements
- H
Contradictory traits
- He is the life of the party, but rarely socializes
- eccentric

Zodiac Sign: Capricorn
That is as far as I could get. Developing a character is hard! Hopefully, practice makes perfect. Or at least better.
